Armenian revanchists can't stand the blossoming of Karabakh in the hands of Azerbaijan Bitterness of reality
"The recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh by the Armenian authorities as part of Azerbaijan will still bear its bitter fruits", said Armen Rustamyan, Dashnak MP from Kocharyan's "Armenia" bloc, during a discussion on April 29.
This sentence alone is enough to understand that Armen Rustamyan, as well as the political force he represents, not only lives in an illusory world but also offers the citizens of his country to plunge into the swamp of illusions, from which there will be no chance to get out.
The reality, of course, is quite different. The current leadership of Armenia had to come to terms with it, albeit not immediately. In the person of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the latter also bet on insanity, inadequacy and provocativeness.
All those dances in a drunken state in Shusha, statements that "Karabakh is Armenia, and period!", followed by the aggravation in the Tovuz direction sanctioned by the military-political leadership of the neighbouring country in July 2020 - all this was evidence of the unwillingness of Pashinyan and his team to soberly assess the situation.
They all sobered up not immediately, not during the 44-day war and not even immediately after its end. They counted on the support of their historical patrons, as they call it, "on automatic". But this did not happen, their calculations were again wrong. This led to a forced adjustment of the position of official Yerevan. This was expressed in Nikol Pashinyan's statements on his recognition of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, including the Karabakh region.
But, I should note that even after these statements, Armenia continued to provide financial assistance to the separatist junta and to send weapons via the Lachin road and other routes to the militants who had entrenched themselves in Khankendi and its environs. There were so many weapons that we still hear news about discovery of new warehouses and caches almost every day. What was left for Azerbaijan to do in these conditions? The correct answer is to conduct an anti-terrorist operation in the Karabakh economic region of our country. It was carried out brilliantly, within a day. Almost all the leaders of the Karabakh junta were detained and brought to Baku, militant groups and remnants of the Armenian army were defeated, the Azerbaijani flag was raised in Khankendi.
Many important events have taken place since then, but in general, Khankendi, Shusha and other liberated cities and other settlements of Azerbaijan are rapidly recovering and developing, which causes hysterical reactions of Armenian revanchists. And now, after everything that has happened, we hear frankly ridiculous statements from Armen Rustamyan, who clearly voices the collective opinion of the representatives of the "Armenia" bloc. The same one headed by the former Karabakh separatist and later the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, who is the author of the phrase about "genetic incompatibility of Armenians and Azerbaijanis".
It is clear that political companions of the bearer of such a life formula cannot a priori be people who adequately and realistically assess reality. Their thirst for political revenge and Azerbaijanophobia blinds their eyes. So much so that they do not recognise such obvious facts as the membership of Azerbaijan and Armenia in the UN and other international organisations within their Soviet borders. They also refuse to acknowledge the well-known four resolutions of the UN Security Council and General Assembly, where the requirement to withdraw all illegal Armenian armed formations from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan was spelt out in black and white. Most importantly, they are trying to plant the idea that the entire problem lies in the "mistake" of the current Armenian authorities, which should be eliminated.
I am talking about the authorities, about Nikol Pashinyan and his team. Revanchists are calling for his overthrow. As if, if this scenario is realised, the liberated territories of Azerbaijan could be occupied again. Yes, as shocking as this may sound to any adequate person, but this is precisely the meaning of the messages of the Armenian opposition. The one that last Sunday had a good time at the wedding of the son of the former Director of the National Security Service of Armenia and now ardent revanchist Artur Vanetsyan.
Robert Kocharyan and his son and many other representatives of the "Armenia" bloc were also there. And now, having hardly recovered from drinking alcohol, they began to talk about the processes, which they have no real opportunity to influence. But they don't want to admit it to themselves. That's why they speak the usual provocative nonsense, the price of which is one dram on market day.
