Realities of Macron’s France You’re lying, Mr President!

27 August 2024 18:03

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov will remain in custody for another 48 hours as part of a cybercrime investigation. This information was provided by Reuters, citing a statement from the Paris prosecutor's office.

Let's discuss who and how to comment on this event. Let's start with French President Emmanuel Macron, who, I have no doubt, personally sanctioned the arrest of Pavel Durov.

He recently reported that the founder of the Telegram messenger was detained in France “as part of an ongoing judicial investigation”. However, there is other information. According to it, Durov was declared wanted just minutes before he arrived in Paris, immediately after which a warrant for his arrest was issued. Who is lying here? Let's put it this way: it's not Macron's policy to admit the obvious.

We have repeatedly witnessed how the French president, for example, tried to convince everyone of his peaceful intentions when supplying offensive weapons to Armenia. We have also seen Mr Emmanuel trying to stop the advance of the Azerbaijani army during the 44-day war by spreading fakes created by Armenian propaganda. So, once you tell a lie - who will believe you?!

All the more, somehow everything turns out to be completely illogical for the French president. If Macron is to be believed, Durov happily traveled to Paris, knowing that he would be arrested there. This is at least strange! But seriously, Macron has his reasons for not telling the truth. This scandal turned out to be too loud, and it is not in the spirit of the French president to admit the obvious.

“This is by no means a political decision. It is for the judges to decide,” the French president desperately denies the obvious on social network X.

But the political components of this arrest are all too obvious here. After all, Durov faces up to 20 years in prison. And why is that? The French authorities believe that the lack of moderation in Telegram and Durov's unwillingness to cooperate with law enforcement agencies makes him an accomplice in drug trafficking, crimes against children, and fraud.

Think about the meaning of these words and appreciate how cynical and hypocritical the statements of Macron and his entourage are. This is confirmed by the information that the French president actively uses Telegram, Politico writes per a former MP who wished to remain anonymous.

The publication notes that Telegram is a popular application among members of the French government and politicians of all levels and parties.

The messenger is especially popular with Macron supporters. The interlocutor showed Politico correspondence with the French leader on 26 August, when the messenger's founder Pavel Durov was already in custody. The status, which shows the time of the last visit, said ‘was recently.’ This means that Macron could have used Telegram within the last few days.

A reasonable question arises: if Durov is complicit in drug trafficking, crimes against children, and fraud, why is the entire French political elite, including President Macron, using his app! The fact that Macron is not believed is also evidenced by the fact that American entrepreneur Elon Musk appealed to the French president on social network X to explain to people the reasons for the arrest of Pavel Durov, the founder of the Telegram messenger.

“It would be helpful for the global public to know more details about why he was arrested”, he wrote.

Simply put, all of Macron's previous vows and assertions didn't convince Musk. And he's not the only one.

That's not surprising, though. Everyone remembers that Monsieur Emanuel is prone to petty cheating. It was last March. It was then that the French president came under fire after he removed an expensive watch under the table during a TV interview about pension reform, which caused mass protests in the country. Then, as we know, the Elysee Palace press office also denied the obvious.

But both then and now it was a wasted effort. The whole world has seen that Macron's France itself cynically flouts the principles it calls on others to observe. For Azerbaijan, which has long seen that the policy of official Paris is as false as Porthos's bandage, everything that is happening now is not surprising. Another thing is that now the whole world has seen the realities of Macron's France. It saw and was horrified.
