Austrian MPs visit Armenian-destroyed Aghdam City in Azerbaijan PHOTO
Members of the Austria-South Caucasus Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Austrian National Council have kicked off a visit to the liberated from occupation Aghdam.
The Austrian delegation will be informed about the war crimes committed in Aghdam during the almost 30-year Armenian occupation, as well as familiarized with the reconstruction and renovation works carried out by Azerbaijan after the liberation of the city, Caliber.Az reports citing AZERTAC.
The city of Aghdam in Azerbaijan bears the scars of decades of occupation by Armenian forces, with Armenian vandalism leaving a profound and enduring impact on its landscape and inhabitants. The recent liberation of Aghdam has brought to light the extent of the destruction inflicted during the occupation, shedding light on the deliberate targeting of cultural heritage and civilian infrastructure.
Armenian forces, during their nearly three-decade-long occupation of Aghdam, engaged in widespread acts of vandalism, looting, and destruction. As Azerbaijani forces reclaimed control of the city, the full extent of the damage became apparent, painting a grim picture of the consequences of Armenian aggression.
One of the most heartbreaking aspects of Armenian vandalism in Aghdam is the desecration of cultural and religious sites. Additionally, museums, historical landmarks, and other religious sites suffered similar fates, with priceless artefacts looted or destroyed.
Residential areas in Aghdam bore the brunt of Armenian aggression, with homes, schools, and hospitals subjected to indiscriminate shelling and destruction. The city's infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and utilities, was systematically targeted, further exacerbating the plight of its inhabitants.
