ADB rep: COP29 to help advance Central Asia's climate change action
The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be held in November in Azerbaijan, will advance Central Asia in the fight against climate change.
According to a Report correspondent from Tbilisi, this was stated by Eugene Zhukov, Director General of ADB's Regional Department for Central and West Asia, at the event "Financing Cleaner Value Chains in the CAREC Region (Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Programme)" at ADB's annual meeting in the Georgian capital.
The CAREC climate change vision was endorsed last November in Tbilisi, he said.
"Azerbaijan will host COP29, which will advance Central Asia in combating climate change. It is important to note that the region is facing the consequences of these processes. Under these conditions, high transport and trade costs make diversification low in this region," he said.
