Azerbaijani FM, US Acting Assistant Secretary of State mull regional situation PHOTO
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received Yuri Kim, US Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, who is on a visit to the country.
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az that the sides discussed on-the-ground situation in the region that has developed following Azerbaijan's anti-terrorist measures, as well as issues of humanitarian aid.
Jeyhun Bayramov stressed that the withdrawal of illegal Armenian armed formations from the territory of Azerbaijan, which were posing the main threat in the region, will serve peace and stability. He spoke about the disarmament process, as well as measures taken by Azerbaijan to meet the needs of the Armenian residents, negotiations on their reintegration.
It was noted that the ongoing slander campaign against Azerbaijan has no grounds and the Armenian residents are not in danger. The minister stressed that the claims against Azerbaijan are groundless and Baku is ready to organise a visit of UN bodies to the Garabagh region under the leadership of the UN Resident Coordinator in our country to prove it.
Jeyhun Bayramov said that despite all the efforts of Azerbaijan through the mediation of international partners, the Armenian side continues to hinder the peace process. He added that Azerbaijan is interested in establishing peace with Armenia on the basis of mutual respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty.
