“Ocampo network” against Baku and Yerevan Foreign experts on Caliber.Az
Minval Politika has presented new video evidence showing that former International Criminal Court prosecutor Luis Ocampo lobbies for his preferred goals and interests using funds from a “group of Russian-Armenian representatives,” who have established a special fund for this purpose. In other words, to put it simply, this group sustains the viability of the “Ocampo empire” through continuous financial injections.

In particular, the former prosecutor openly admits that he receives funds from wealthy Armenians living in Russia, while the entire lobbying process is carried out through structures of the European Parliament and the EU bureaucratic apparatus, and is aimed at exerting pressure on both Baku and Yerevan.
Caliber.Az has turned to European and Russian experts for their views on Ocampo’s cynical scheme.

According to Austrian analyst Rudolf Valeev, the evidence presented demonstrates an alarming level of corruption within EU structures and indicates that the entire system of European institutions is permeated by agents or lobbyists serving the interests of external actors.
“It is hard not to notice that everything points to a ‘Russian trace’ in this scheme. As Ocampo himself claims, these are wealthy Armenians currently based, as we understand, mostly in Russia. Thus, an interesting paradox emerges: European Union officials are working in service of Russian-Armenian interests. In other words, the entire EU institution, which is in direct confrontation with Russia due to the Russian-Ukrainian war, has fallen under the influence of an adventurer who manipulates EU structures almost effortlessly and without obstacles, effectively forcing them to act on behalf of his opponent.
This leads to the following question: ‘if Ocampo has such an extensive network of lobbyists within the upper echelons of the European Union, how many other lobbyists are serving the interests of other centres or powers?’

Frankly speaking, it becomes alarming and somewhat unsettling for the future of the EU if its entire apparatus is engaged in implementing the goals and objectives of third parties. This, therefore, raises a serious threat that, through the ‘Ocampo network’ or other pro-Russian lobbyists, the European Union may face a real prospect of becoming a ‘political colony of the Russian Federation’ under an Armenian flag.
At the very least, it cannot be ruled out that even now EU officials or members of the European Parliament are taking decisions that lobby for Russian interests, which could lead the European Union to defeat in the face of the Russian threat,” said Valeev.

Meanwhile, Russian political analyst and expert on the South Caucasus, Alexander Ryabtsov, believes that Moscow should take an interest in Luis Ocampo’s revelations if those financing his work and schemes within the EU are located on Russian territory.
“Here we face a dilemma: what issues are influential Armenian figures—who may also be major Russian oligarchs—investing their resources in resolving? These objectives may either align with Russian interests or run counter to Russia’s policy. According to Ocampo, they are directed against Azerbaijan and Armenia, but what the former prosecutor is saying is, most likely, only the tip of the iceberg.
So it is not surprising that Baku decided to sever ties with the European Parliament—these videos demonstrate the shameful fact of a structural breakdown within the EU, which has ceased to function as a meaningful international mechanism and has instead turned into an instrument of private political games,” Ryabtsov stated.
